Along with the holiday season comes the holiday parties. Here are some celebrity-inspired hairstyles that are big on drama and will be perfect for all of your holiday happenings!
Blake Lively has fabulous glossy waves. This look is all about glamour, but it is simple to achieve! After blowing your hair out, use a large barrel iron. Then, run a brush through your spirals. Use a dab of shine spray on the ends and you will rock any holiday event.
Hayden Panettiere’s texture bun is a classic. Blow dry your hair with a diffuser to bring out a natural wave, or you can create spirals with a curling iron. Then use your fingers to take your hair back into a mid level bun.
Eva Mendes’s Sultry sweep is a chic look. Tease your hair at the crown. Then, continue on as if you were putting your hair into a mid level pony tail. Instead, only pull your hair halfway through the elastic. Then let some strands slip out randomly so they frame your face. This look is sexy and sophisticated.
There’s no doubt about it – women’s hairstyles and updos should change with the seasons, and summer is certainly no exception. As such, this article aims to provide ideas for 6 cute summer hairstyles that you can wear at both casual and formal events.
And best of all, most of these summer hair styles incorporate some form of a ponytail. Thus, they are super simple to create, taking only a couple of minutes each! Read on, save time and look stunning!
Side Bun Hairstyle
This stunning hairstyle features an elegant side bun. For create this, you will need a hair tie, bobby pins, and (optionally) a nice hair accessory like a ribbon or flower. Simply gather your hair into a side ponytail and secure it with the elastic hair tie. If you opt for a hair accessory, make sure you affix it to the front side of the ponytail as you secure it. Once the ponytail is complete, simply wrap it around the base and the hair accessory to form the bun, and hold it all in place with a couple of bobby pins. Easy, fun, and elegant!
Japanese Top Bun
The next of our fabulous and quick cute summer hairstyles is the Japanese inspired top bun. For this style, the first step is to gather your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a hair tie that is roughly the same color as your natural hair. Now, when you secure the pony, do not go all the way with it; leave a loop. Then tuck the end of the ponytail into the loop to form a bun, fan the bun out slightly, and secure it into place with a few bobby pins. Add an elegant hair accessory to complete the look.
Braided Side Knot
The third of our summer haircuts, the braided side knot, begins with a side ponytail. Then split the pony into 2 sections and braid them together. Secure the braid with a hair tie, and gently fluff out the braid with your fingers for a little extra volume. Then twist the braided section around itself to form a bun, and secure everything in place with your favorite hair accessory.
Twisted Rope Braided Hairstyle
The fourth style is the twist rope braid, and it’s definitely one of my all-time favorites! Give this one a try and I think you’ll like it a lot!
First, take all of your hair on one side, make 2 sections, and twist each section around itself so that both are nice and tight. Then wrap both twisted sections together in an inward fashion so that they lock together. Finally, use your fingers to gently fluff the twist so that it appears thicker and more voluminous. Secure with a hair tie and you’re done!
Korean Inspired Hairstyle
The fifth style – the Korean inspired IU top bun – also starts with a high ponytail. Once finished, bring the ponytail to the front of your head, and wrap it around itself into a high bun and secure it at the back. Secure with a few bobby pins, and finish off the look with a beautiful headband accessory.
Messy Ponytail Updo
The last of our lovely summer hairstyles is a messy updo ponytail style. Again, the first step is to create a high ponytail. Then spread the ponytail and insert a couple of bobby pins into the center of the pony near the scalp to push the hair forward. Then use your fingers to gently pull apart the main section of the ponytail for that messy look. The final step is to embellish it with a nice scarf or headband accessory.

An updo is simply arranging the hair in a bun or a pony tail instead of letting it hang freely around the face. These days updos are no longer the formal stiff looking buns and knots that women used to fashion during proms, weddings or other formal occasion. Instead modern updos are more soft, sexy and feminine. Modern updos can now be done quickly and can be worn during any occasion, making an easy DIY updo accessible to any woman.
For the modern woman an updo is not just a fashion statement, it is a must. Mothers and career women feel that they can move around more freely when not constricted by long hair. The updo is not just for straight haired women, they are also for the curly haired. Doing your hair does not have to necessarily mean an expensive trip to the hair salon or the stylists’. It can be done cheaply and in a short time right in your own home.
For the most basic updo, you can just tie your hair in a pony tail and be done with it. Another way to do a basic updo is to gather your hair in one hand and raise it behind your neck. Pull your hair into a twist and secure the twisted hair with hair pins or those specially designed hair-claws. Let the ends hang freely. To add more style, pull some hair out from the side of your face and let them frame your face. By allowing some wisps of your hair to fall freely, your updo is softer and more feminine. You don’t have to worry about your hair being messy despite the clips and hair pins. Most celebrities wear their updos in this messy style. This casual hairstyle can be worn not only at home or at work but can be worn during any event.
For my personal updo, which I wear everyday at home and when I go out. I wash my hair and apply conditioner. I towel dry my hair and if I don’t need to go out I don’t use blow dryers instead opting to have my hair dry naturally. When my hair is finally dry I put on some leave on conditioner or hair gloss. Since I have black hair these products will make my hair shinier. I put on a head band to keep the hair out of my eyes. I usually choose those elastic kinds with colorful patterns. After I secure my head band, I gather the rest of my hair at the back of my neck and depending on my mood I usually secure my hair low, just at my nape, or when I am going out for a night in town with my friends or have to go to a business meeting I secure it in a pony tail high on my head. My hair is shoulder length so instead of finishing the pony tail, and pulling the hair out all the way out the scrunchie, I let a small bun form and arrange the hair I have pulled out to cover the bun and scrunchie. This style is casual and messy but it can be worn to formal occasions too.
The updo is a very versatile hairstyle, so you can personalize it to suit your needs, mood or the event you have to attend. You can try accessorizing your updo with barrettes, hair clips or bobby pins. You can also try curling those loose tendrils with a curling iron if you have straight hair to add variety and style to your updo. A casual messy updo is the best look for any occasion. It is easy and fun to do. This look is easy on the budget too.
