How to Choose the Right Hair Color for Your Skin Tone

Great article on http://styletips101.com/hair-how-tos/how-to-choose-the-right-hair-color-for-your-skin-tone.html

Since I wrote a post about this season’s hottest hair colors, I thought I’d it follow it up with an informative post about how to actually choose the right hair color for your skin tone (thanks to a fellow reader!). Whether you’re a natural blonde, brunette, or redhead, you can pretty much change to any hair color as long as you follow some strict guidelines.

SKIN TONE

All complexions consist of two skin tone categories: warm skin tones and cool skin tones.

WARM SKIN TONES

If you have a yellow or golden undertone, you fall under the warm category. Therefore, hair colors that have a warm undertone will look much better on you than a cool undertone color. So how can you tell if you have a warm skin tone? Simply look at the veins in your arms in the day light. If the veins appear to be green, then your complexion is warm. And don’t forget that this rule doesn’t only apply to hair but everything else in between such as makeup and clothing!

COOL SKIN TONES

If you have pink or blue skin undertones, you have a cool skin tone. This means that hair colors with cool undertones will look better on you. To see if your skin tone is cool, take a look at the veins in your arms during daylight and if they are blue, then you have a cool complexion.

TIPS

COOL TONE COLORS

WARM TONE COLORS

- If you’re dying your hair for the first time, head to your local salon for better results. Plus, they’ll be able to match you with your perfect hair color.

- If you’re a pro at dying your hair at home (you’ve done it a few times), don’t forget that all dye boxes now tell you whether the color is warm or cool.

- There are always exceptions to the rules, such as combining warm and cool tones and using them as dimensional colors, but again, I would suggest you get this done by a professional

- Can’t figure out what your skin tone is? As a rule of thumb, most people are actually cool toned.

Sweet Summer Updo Hairstyles

Hair. Most women can’t live with it, and they certainly can’t live without it. It seems that every woman has complaints about their own hair. Straight-haired women long for luscious curls and curly-haired women long for sleek, straight locks. However, when summer comes around, everyone tries to find a way to keep their hair up, out of their faces and off their necks, especially for those fancy, summer evening soirees and nights out on the town. The solution to all of this is finding yourself the perfect summer updo hairstyles that flatter your face shape, hair type and outfit. Here are some suggestions to get the ball rolling.

For curly-haired dames, a great updo hairstyle idea is the textured coif. This way, you don’t have to fight your unruly curls or frizz from the summer humidity. Just pin your curls up with several bobby pins or hair plaits low on the back of your neck. Use a little bit of hairspray to keep the curls in place, and you have a ready-made, elegant, flapper-girl coif to compliment your curls.

Another option when it comes to updo hairstyles for summer is the undone bun. This is perfect for all types of hair and requires very little effort. All you have to do is gather all your hair up, pull it back and pin it up in a high bun. Then, take a few well-placed strands out of the bun and let them hang down sort of messily (but chic) around your face. You can rock this updo after a day at the beach or while dressing yourself up for a fancy evening out.

If you have long, sleek, stick-straight hair, then a great option for you is the ballerina bun. Prep your hair with anti-frizz, straightening serum, and then gather it all up high on the back of your head and slowly twist it into a bun. The key to this look is eliminating all the frizz, so spray the bun with some hairspray to keep the top flat and frizz-less. With every strand perfectly in place, the ballerina bun will show off your beautiful face.

For curly-haired women or straight-haired gals, the ponytail is always a classic fallback option, though it is definitely one of the simpler updo hairstyles. Pull your hair back into a sleek ponytail. A low ponytail that cascades down the side of your shoulder is elegant, but if you want to draw focus to a nice pair of earrings or a necklace, pull the hair up into a higher one. Variations on the ponytail include side-swept bangs, or clipping your bangs back for a poof on top of your head. Once again, use hairspray or serum to control the frizz.

Last but not least, curly-haired or straight-haired women can always rock a side braid. Brush your hair out, and pull it elegantly into one long braid on one side of your head. If loose, shorter strands fall out of the braid and hang around your face, it only adds to the effortless elegance of the look. The side-braid is great for a daytime look, but can also be easily glammed up for an evening event.

This summer, there are endless possibilities in updo hairstyles, no matter what type of hair you have, or what your personal style is. Experiment will all of these ideas and more!

Tips in Obtaining Healthy Hair

A lot of people want to have healthy hair that would look great and stylish. After all, the hair is also an important part that would improve people’s look and appearance. There’s no using having beautiful and astonishing facial and body appearance with shabby, dry, or greasy hair. People wouldn’t be impressed with such look because such appearance would mean poor maintenance.

Here are several healthy hair tips, which can be done by everyone, in obtaining great hair. These steps are simple and easy to do.

* When people experience damaged hair or split ends, there’s no other ways except cutting it. When people maintain their damaged hair, they only risk worsening the hair condition. The split ends won’t go away, no matter how hard they try and whatever products they use. They need to start over and start a new beginning with new style.

* Once they start off with new look, they need to have regular trim. It’s better to do it once a month so that the hair condition will be kept well.

* If they have greasy kind of hair, they shouldn’t wash it every day. It would even make the condition get worse if they do it every day. When they wash their hair on daily basis, they would trigger the sebum glands to produce more oil, which in the end would make the hair even greasier.

* Avoid using any products with chemical substance if they experience damaged hair. Go for natural ingredient. Also avoid using hair styling products as such hair dryer or curling iron to prevent further damage. Start using more natural way in drying the hair: let it dry by itself.

* If they suffer from damaged hair, don’t often bind the hair or style it in up-do model. Binding or tightening the hair would cause break and cause further damage. It’s better to let the hair let loose.

* It’s better to use separate shampoo and conditioner. When they apply the conditioner, they should do it starting on the root and then on the hair strands only, not on the scalp. If they apply it on the scalp, it would make the scalp greasy.

* When the hair is wet, they shouldn’t comb it right away. Hair would easily fall off, especially in wet condition. They should also use comb with wider teeth. They should start to comb the hair from strands and then move to the root.

* Avoid extreme diets because the hair won’t get enough nutrients from the required food.

* It’s a good idea to consume vegetable, dairy products, and drink a lot of water every day so that they could get the nutrients needed by the hair.

People should keep doing the tips above and they could drastically change their condition in no time.

The Hottest Summer Hairstyle Trends for 2011

As a season marked by fashion revivals, it’s no surprise that some of the hottest hair trends for the summer of 2011 happen to be updated versions of classic styles. Much of this is driven by celebrities who sometimes take inspiration from the fashion trends of yesteryear. As such, here are some of the most popular cuts and hair colors for the hottest months of the year.

Long hair is always popular, but this year the way it is styled will take precedence over the way it is cut. For example, first appearing on various fashion runways this spring, the summer beehive is back in vogue, albeit a bit more relaxed than its predecessor. Jennifer Lopez was one of the first celebrities to sport the updated beehive this year.

Another new trend for long hair this summer is the braided topknot. Combining two popular hair trends of the past three years, the braided topknot recently appeared on the Sass and Bide spring runway to compliment their summer tribal fashion line. While some styles combine multiple braids, the basic hairstyle consists of a single French braid running up the back of the hair, finished off with a messy topknot. Many celebrities have sported variations of this hairstyle recently.

For a more casual long hair look, the double hair knot is a soft, summery look that is perfect for almost any facial shape. The look is essentially an undone braid sitting at the nape of the neck, and incorporates elements of texture and contour to maintain a fresh look.

Medium hair has been dominated by long bobs, but summer 2011 styles will feature a twist on the outgrown bob – literally. Loose waves that just graze the shoulders will add a feminine sophistication to your hairstyle. Bobs with loose waves and enhanced volume can be done in both fully stylized as well as more relaxed varieties, offering something for just about every woman.

Extremely short hair will be another trend in 2011, with the pixie crop emerging as the favored short hairstyle. Celebrities like Emma Watson and Carey Mulligan have sported this look in the past, but unlike 2010′s pixie cut, which was long in the front and short in the back, this style is daringly short all over.

Full, bold bangs will also be in vogue this year. One popular variation involves pairing this style with a sleek bob, and all lengths and styles of hair have seen the reemergence of the fringe. Long and oval face shapes are best suited for these bangs.

Colors can be as extreme as the summer temperatures, and two of the most popular shades at the moment are vibrant red and pale blond colors. The rarity of these colors adds to their appeal, and in general the best shades should be bold without appearing unnatural. Both of these colors look especially great on women with fair complexions.

With as much variety for hair as there is for fashion, the summer of 2011 should prove to be a fun-filled season of experimentation for fashion divas everywhere.

Wedding Updo Ideas Worth Knowing For Your Special Day

For women, their wedding day counts as one of the most important in their life. And for this reason, every little detail about the event is meticulously planned. After all, you only want it to happen once. And one of the most important considerations in a wedding is the bride’s wedding updo. For whatever reason, it’s one of the things that is spent a lot of time on. If you are walking down the aisle soon and you still haven’t figured out what wedding updo you are going to have, here are some tips and ideas tht are worth knowing.

Brides with long hair have a lot of options to explore when it comes to their wedding hairstyle. Depending on the style of their wedding gown, and the overall theme of the wedding, they can either let their hair gracefully down, or put it up in an elegant bun complete with hair accessories. If you are wearing a nice and sleek backless gown, it’s obviously better to keep your hair up so that you will be able to show off the style of your wedding gown, and your sexy back. On the other hand, if you are opting for a minimalist wedding theme, you might want to do the same to your hair and avoid intricate wedding updo with a lot of knots. Believe me, you won’t want your hair to attract more attention than you.

Brides with short hair may think that they have fewer options for a fantastic wedding updo, but that’s not the case at all. Just think that having short hair is a perfect chance for you to use fantastic hair accessories to make your hair more fabulous. You can either use barrettes or even flowers to style your hair. If you have shoulder-length hair, you can have gorgeous loose curls that fall radiantly at the side of your face.

There are a lot of styles that you could try for your wedding updo. If the big day is still months ahead, you could take the time to experiment on a hairstyle so could have sort of a dryrun for your wedding hairstyle. Whatever hairstyle you choose to wear, the important thing is to make sure that it goes with your wedding gown and with the overall theme of the wedding.

Hair Care – New Spring Styles For 2011

These days a good majority of women are putting on shorter hair in order to compensate for less time in the morning to work on the hairdo, but for the spring of 2011, look for longer locks on women, even the working woman.

Women are coming to terms with the fact that longer hair can actually be easily cared for while shorter hair may take extra work in order to tame those curls or to set the hair in the spikes that look nice. Flat short do’s are becoming don’ts for spring of 2011, with a far softer and more feminine look coming to the fore.

Long soft curls or long sleek locks with a bit of body are making the scene at the workplace and in the home and gym. Long hair can be easy care, it simply requires a style that permits you to finger comb and go like some of those tousled short do’s used to be.

The second reason why short hair is making it’s way out and slightly longer styles are coming into play in 2011 is that this year, its all about movement. The slight sway that longer hair can offer. Styles are going to appear to be moving even if they are well locked into place with gels or sprays. Clever cutting styles and easy techniques to add height and volume will make even the most well styled and laid down hair appear to have movement.

Another important concept for 2011 is a brand new look called the candy floss texture and style. Its very soft, extremely feminine to view and has a very matte finish to it, rather than a high gloss type style. A spray of sea salt or salt water is offering this great new look and then the hair is backcombed to achieve the effect of softly flowing hair even if its been gelled into place with a vengeance.

The soft side part or a center parting is back in style with the pouf that was last year on its way out again, but along with the part comes a soft fringe or a blunt cut set of bangs that will lend some softness and some swing to the style that you’re sporting. The newest look is an arc cut bangs that add some swing and some softness, gently framing the face. This type bangs though can be difficult to maintain so if you’re not someone who regularly makes it in for a haircut, you’ll want to consider a blunt cut bang in order to get the effect a bit more longer lasting and low maintenance.

With this year’s prom right around the corner, it’s never to early to begin thinking about the perfect prom updo hairstyle. Many of the updo styles that were popular in 2010 will continue to be in style in 2011 as well. Classic chignons, messy updos and the high ‘puff’ style will be spotted throughout the prom dance floors this spring.

The messy updo is the perfect choice for prom for many reasons. For one, you don’t need to be constantly checking if your hair is staying in place. When you are owning the dance floor, the last thing you want to worry about is running to the bathroom to make sure something has come loose. The messy look provides some flexibility and still looks fabulous.

The ‘poof’ updo which has been popularized by the Jersey Shore star ‘Snooki’ will be a very popular prom updo hairstyle. The use of ‘pump ups’ will also be seen throughout the informal and formal world this year.

Early red carpet appearances this year have displayed very formal and elegant chignon updos. Elegant buns or crafted twists have been worn by a number of celebrities and will continue to be popular this prom season. Bangs are seemingly making a comeback as well and can be worn with any number of elegant updos.

While retro updos were in for 2010, we haven’t been seeing as many old hollywood styles so far this year. That is not to say they won’t be worn througout the year, it just looks like the trend might be short lived.

Remember, when choosing the perfect prom updo hairstyle, be sure to ‘test drive’ a few before deciding on your final look. After all, it is likely the biggest day of your young life so make sure you find the hairstyle that suits you and your personality best.

How To Tame Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair can be a problem for women, especially those with curly hair who live in warm or humid climates. Before you even leave your home, your beautiful hair style can start to fall apart and make you look disheveled. You can wear your hair in a ponytail, but the situation can bring down your confidence and spoil your style.

Besides humidity, there are many causes for frizzy hair, the main one being that your hair lacks moisture. It’s very important to use a cream conditioner after shampooing so that your hair can retain moisture. Keep in mind that excessive use of shampoo is bad for your hair because it causes your hair to lose its natural oils. For best results, wash your hair twice weekly.

Applying excessive heat with a flat iron or blow dryer everyday can add to the problem. The frequent use of hair dryers can not only make your hair look brittle, but can cause split ends as well. Styling your hair twice a week with the help of a heat protecting product is sufficient to reduce the frizz, keep you looking your best and lock in moisture.

Another cause of frizz is using chemicals or a lot of products to color, treat or manage your hair. While using these products may make you feel or look better temporarily, they tend to damage in the long run. Therefore, you should try to cut back on the use of styling products and talk to your colorist about how often he or she recommends doing color treatments so that you damage your hair as little as possible. A monthly deep conditioning can also help to reduce frizz for color treated hair and a small amount of gel can help control damaged hair.

Another method of getting rid of frizzy hair is to stop using a hairbrush. Using a wide-tooth comb is a better option because it does not break the strands, cause split ends or cause frizz. One of the best ways to detangle your locks is to run your fingers through them gently while in the shower and then pat dry with a towel as opposed to rubbing dry.

No matter where we live or how well we take care of ourselves, we all have to deal with frizz from time to time, but that doesn’t mean that we should let it take over our day. This is a problem that can be remedied with a bit of patience and care. We hope that our suggestions will help you out. Good luck.

How to make your hair curly

Here is how you can make your hair curly and fabulous . . .

Hair Health – How to Have Healthy Hair, Part Two

Having healthy hair is easier once you know what effects hair and what choices you can make to support you hair in being healthy. To have healthy hair there are factors you have to consider from the inside and from the outside.

Inside factors include anything that is going on inside your body. This includes the kinds of things you are ingesting (food, beverages, thoughts), what form of release you have established (exercise, yoga, breath work, being outside, laughter, fun) and if you are in a state of health and balance. The three biggest inside factors that affect your hair are stress, hormones and medication.

Outside factors include how you treat your hair, what you do to your hair (color, straighten, blow drying), environmental factors (pollution, ozone layer, air conditioning, artificial heat, chlorine) and weather (sun, wind, humidity, cold).

In this article we are going to focus on the outside factors and what you can do to support your hair in being healthy.

How You Treat Your Hair
Begin in the shower, what shampoo and conditioner do you use? It needs to be quality. Professional products are usually best. A product with keratin and moisture does wonders for anyone with chemically treated hair. Keratin is a form of protein and protein will rebuild your hair from the inside out. Moisture will protect your hair on the surface. It is crucial to have quality products for quality hair.

If you brush your hair when wet, switch to a comb. Hair is most elastic when wet, and if your hair is weak or vulnerable, it can overstretch and break when it’s wet. Just take care. Combing is more forgiving.

Next, use product in your hair if you plan on using any kind of heat. Product will help protect your hair. If you are blow drying, put your product on, then finish getting ready or eat breakfast and let your hair air dry for a bit. When you do blow dry, start on warm to get your hair 70 to 90 percent dry, then switch to hot heat. Use the heat as a styling tool, to give your hair a finished, polished look.

Don’t wash your hair everyday. This is super for your scalp and hair. You can use hair power and a quick freshening spray on your non-wash days, in combination with a quick blow dry on hot, to reshape your hair. Over time, this will make a huge impact of the health of your hair. Less washing means less styling. Less styling is less wear and tear on your hair.

What You Do To Your Hair
If you color or straighten your hair it is important to give back to your hair. You need to do all that we have just covered, not as an option, but as a practice of how to treat your hair. Also ask your stylist about gloss for coloring. It is safe and effective and feels wonderful. Your hair will shine.

Environmental Factors
Be aware of the environmental factors you can control. Nourish your hair with oils if you are in artificial heat or air.

Weather Factors
Put fresh water in your hair, then conditioner, then a cap on if you are getting in chlorinated water. Treat you hair to a deep conditioning treatment if you live in an area with extreme weather. Wear hats if you are out in the sun or cold.

Now that you know what factors affect your hair you can make choices to be nice to your body from the inside. Use quality products to nourish and protect your hair from heat, weather and daily life. Don’t wash everyday and take care to take care.

2011 Hairstyles

In 2011 hairstyles are all about movement. That may sound like an odd theme as people generally want their hair to stay in place, however this is about a look and is descriptive of the overall feel of 2011 hairstyles. Styles are seen to be moving due to clever hair cutting and styling techniques, for example slashed layers, brushed in various directions, give the illusion of very free moving hair, even if it is held in place with a spray. Lines are dynamic, from arc shaped fringes, to intricate braids, giving extra dimensions to hairstyles and adding interesting twists.

The other noticable trend for 2011 hairstyles, is a candy floss texture. This is new, it is a matt look, and very soft and feminine. It has been seen on many catwalks, with models wearing an extreme version of this style, of course for everyday hairstyles, the look can be toned down, and a little back combing of the top layer of hair, along with a spray of sea salt or wax hairspray, for a matt finish, holds the hair in place.

Center partings are back in fashion, looking best on round and oval shaped faces, a center parting gives a nice symmetry to hairstyles and of course is easy to maintain. With blunt, thick, long bangs / fringes popular in 2011, a center parting is a way to wear the hair on days that you maybe do not have time to style the thick, blunt fringed look. So it gives the option to be versatile with your bangs.

The latest look for bangs (or fringes), as previously mentioned, is a blunt, full look. Rather than being cut straight across, they are being cut in arc shapes, which adds that new look. They are long and so need to be cut regularly, as just hovering above the eyes, too long will be annoying, so you may need to get some hair cutting scissors, to keep your blunt bangs in tip top condition, without breaking the bank.

2011 hairstyles are seen to contain lots of interesting new braiding techniques. Adding braids to hairstyles makes them look more interesting and adds a splash of detail that can give that extra swag to an otherwise common look. Fishtail plaiting is nice, but also basket weaves and really any kind of braid you can imagine. Incorporating a braid into your hair, really looks great and updates any style. You can also buy pre braided hair extensions, that can be clipped in and wound around the head.

Wet looks are fashionable for short cropped hairstyles in 2011, but can also be worn on longer hair, at the tips, giving a just out the shower look, fresh and clean! The other look is big hair, voluminous, but not harsh. Voluminous hair should be softened by using gentle teasing with a comb and sea salt spray. Long hairstyles in 2011 can also be lush, that is, long full and in excellent condition, with perfectly formed waves. If your hair does not have that much volume, hair extensions can be clipped in and in recent years have become more widely available and not expensive.

2011 hairstyles can be any color, but most popular are bright shades of blonde and red, as well as deep multi tonal dark shades for brunettes. Panels of hair color that give the illusion of shine and hairstyles that have different shades in the tips or roots are also popular. When choosing several shades for your hair, keep them within a few shades of the base color, for a modern look.

So with movement and wispy textures being the keys to 2011 hairstyles, the new year is a good time to assess your look and go for a new one. Search for some pictures of 2011 hairstyles to find something you like and then consult your local hair stylist, who will be well informed on how to achieve the latest 2011 hairstyle looks.

Healthy Diet For Healthy Hair

When it comes to your tresses, both the internal and external treatment you provide are of equal importance. It means that both the quality of your diet and of the products you put on your hair have to be considered.

It is important to drink enough water, because water makes your hair not only supple and soft, but also silky and shiny. So, don’t wait until you feel thirsty! Just keep drinking water!

Dietitians recommend a diet rich in protein for healthy hair, since hair consists of primarily protein. Eating protein rich foods like fish, meat, milk and cheese will give your hair more strength, while preventing it from breaking and splitting. Put eggs also on your menu! However they’re served up, scrambled, fried, boiled, eggs are one of the best protein sources one can find.

Minerals are also vital for healthy hair. Let’s take a closer look at their roles: iron carries oxygen to the hair, zinc prevents hair loss, while copper improves the natural color of your hair. To get sufficient iron, do include red meat and dark green vegetables in your diet. Your hair can receive the needed amount of zinc from meat and seafood. Fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, meat and liver are a precious source of copper. By the way, low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt contain calcium, an important mineral for hair growth.

Because vitamins help in the growth of your hair you must ensure that your diet includes all the necessary ones. Vitamin A, found especially in carrots is good for skin and keeps your scalp healthy. Including fruit, vegetables, cereals, eggs, milk and bread in your daily diet you supply your body with vitamin B and C, which are ideal for hair growth and color.

And don’t forget to exercise! Along with a healthy hair diet, this will ensure that blood flows properly to your scalp, helping your hair to grow.

On the other side, you have to take care externally of your tresses. Nothing can be better than making use of top-class shampoos, conditioners, styling products and color support under the expert eye of skillful salon teams.

It follows that the most effective way to get healthy hair is through a healthy diet doubled harmoniously by the use of high-quality hair care products praised by professionals

If you are looking for professional salon quality hair care products then Bumble and Bumble are the products for you.

Create Dramatic Holiday Hair Styles With Your Curling Iron

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. And this past week I’ve been enjoying receiving in the mail the Christmas issues of all my favorite magazines. I’m loving all the holiday hair tips and have noticed one fun new theme in all the suggestions: jewelry. What could be better than putting something sparkly in your hair for that holiday party or event?

I’ve seen two great suggestions in the jewelry direction. First is a bejeweled headband. This means you could style your hair like normal. Use your blow dryer and curling iron and maybe put in a few more curls than normal. Then simply top it with a special sparkly headband that matches or coordinates with the color of your outfit. That definitely sounds easy enough for anyone to do.

The second idea is some well placed jewelry in your hair. Clip your locks up with a barrette or comb that has stones or something even more flashy on it. Or try a pin or stick for something really different. These accessories would be beautiful with flowing curls (might require even more quality time with your curling iron than normal but worth it!) or an evening bun.

One particular style really caught my eye for those of you with medium to long, curly or wavy hair. Start by twisting and pinning your hair up with bobby pins (i.e. pin curls). Leave the pins in for half an hour and finish off with your blow dryer with diffuser attached to make sure everything is dry. Take the pins out and finger comb if you’d like. Just don’t use a comb or brush on the hair as it will make it frizzy. Then bring the tendrils up and work into a loose bun. It looks very sophisticated.

Whatever you are doing for the holidays, spending some extra time making your hair look great is always worth it. Holiday parties are a great excuse to try new and different styles with your hair.

Blow Drying Your Hair

This is how I blow dry my hair with a round brush under 7 minutes!

Winter Hair

Does your hair have seasonal affective disorder (SAD)? If so, you’re not alone. The bleak winter weather can wreak havoc with hairstyles, leaving you with a fraying nest which is more Winehouse than Cole. This is nothing short of a disaster – you need your hair to look shiny, healthy and full of life for all those Christmas and New Year parties!

Look after your hair in the winter with proper hair care and some good quality hair care products, and your hot locks will set the tone for your Christmas period look, getting you off to a good start when it comes to making the most of the holiday season. Leave it to chance and you could find all those carefully selected outfits ruined by a disobedient barnet.

Here are the top 5 winter hair care tips to keep your hair well-behaved for winter.

Condition well

One of the main problems with winter is that it can strip the hair of moisture. It’s therefore vital to use hair care products which will replenish that moisture and a good conditioner is the best place to start. Along with using the right type of moisturizing conditioner for your hair (ask your stylist which hair care products are best for your hair type), treat your hair with an intensive conditioning treatment twice a week. For best results, slather on the conditioner and wrap your hair in a towel for ten minutes – this creates a humid environment, allowing the conditioner to penetrate the hair properly.

Rinse with cold water

Rinsing with cold water after washing out hair care products is a good way to help lock in the moisture from your conditioner. It also gives added shine to the hair.

Don’t go outside with wet hair

Going outside with wet hair in winter can lead to the hair freezing and possibly breaking, so try to make sure your hair is dry and protected before you leave the house. If you’re going out in the cold weather, you also need to be wary of hats. If you want to wear a hat, make sure it fits properly and clean your hats regularly. Wearing a tight hat can lead to limp, greasy hair due to overworked sebaceous glands.

Avoid heating the hair

Any extreme temperature can lead to hair damage, so icy cold weather and central heating in winter is a troublesome combination for hair care, robbing moisture and increasing static. Try not to overuse any hot items on the hair in winter. Blow dryers and curling tongs, for example, can dry out the hair. Limit use of your hairdryer and, when you do use it, use a cool setting. This will take longer but it will be far less likely to contribute to the winter damage of your hair.

Don’t shampoo too often

Winter weather and central heating will dry your hair meaning you need to shampoo less often at this time of year. Try to leave longer between washes – at least a day – and the natural oils will help prevent the hair drying out. When you do wash, use moisturising hair care products to help reduce dryness. Now – time to get ready for that party!

ShopRush stocks all your favourite brands of hair care products and styling items, like tigi hair products and kerastase, to bring you all the tools you need, at fantastic prices.
